This is an extremely rare old stuffed toy Bonzo dog based on George Studdy\'s cartoon character created in 1922. It was produced by the Chad Valley Co. in England in the 1920s and is velveteen and jointed. It still has the original collar and button, which states CHAD VALLEY "BONZO" RECD HARBORNE. The original foot tag reads HYGIENIC TOYS MADE IN ENGLAND BY CHAD VALLEY Co LTD.
It is fully articulated, the head turns as well as the legs.
It stands almost 7 inches tall, when sitting about 5 1/2 inches. The pink hand painted shading is so cute, and still can be seen although a little bit faded. It is very clean and you\'d be hard pressed to find one in better condition.
The condition is amazingly good for its age! There are a couple of small tan stains and marks and a couple of old repair stitches which I\'ve tried to show in the photos. The velvet is almost unworn except for a few pinhead bare spots. It has the original collar, button and foot tag. The mouth has a couple old repair stitches, and it looks like it may have had a pacifier or tongue there. All of the joints are articulated, but the right arm isn\'t easily moving and I don\'t want to force it.
