A VERY RARE EMERSON NUMBER 3 TYPEWRITER. IT HAS THREE ROWS OF KEYS AND THE TYPE BARS HINGE HORIZONTALLY WHILE STRIKING THE PAPER, UNLIKE MACHINES THAT STRIKE THE PAPER FROM A MOSTLY VERTICAL POSITION. It has the black keys. The downside is that Emerson emblem near the keys has flaked off but I still have a piece of it that I will send. The keys strike with ease but the carriage drawband is snapped so it will need to be replaced to be able to move the carriage(I have the broken pieces and will send them along too). The serial number is 6820 so that should date it as built in 1911 based upon some research I did. This would be quite a neat piece for someones collection.
