Rare Antique Primitive 20 Gallon J. Hamilton & Co. Greensboro Stoneware Crock

I normally don\'t sell stoneware online because I can sell it pretty easy in my store, this crock is different though as you can see by the photo\'s. I found this in an old barn today in S.W. Penna. it was located in an old grain bin, the story was that the current farm owners who bought the farm over 60 years ago said the crock was found in \"said\" condition in the barns upper hay loft just as you see it, it was put aside for all these years and here it now is. I have been buying for ten years now and have only owned three twenties, they aredefinitelyhard to find and what makes this piece great is that it is literally farm found fresh out of a barn not a piece that has been passed from collection to collection and not a piece that has been screwed with, farm fresh, there are still great things to be found!

The large shard we have fits nicely in the crock but there still is an equal size piece missing, I asked the farmers if they had it but they didn\'t they said it was always missing it. The crock stands 25\" tall, and the main body has several cracks through out it as you can see in the pictures for the most part they are good and tight, there are no cracks on the bottom though. There is a very nice freehand and stenciled cobalt bluedesign on the crock which also has a nice contrast to it, we just wiped down the outside with plain water and a rag anddumpedthe dust out of the inside, I don\'t know anyone who fixes crocks and I don\'t know if anyone could fix such a large gap?, if they can then there is plenty of potential here. The handles are also good and tight. We took one photo of the crock with the shard not in place and another very similar with it in place.

I am charging $75 to ship this crock this is due to it\'s size and fragile nature, it has survived this long I do not want it to break it the hapless mail system it would be a complete shame. The crock will be double boxed and I am open to any suggestions the wining buyer has.

This sale is starting at .01 cent with , it will be on for ten days.

My daughter is for sizereferenceonly.
