Rare Early 20th Century Green Mohair 16\" Teddy Bear Straw Stuffed jointed Steiff

 

Offered is a 16\" Teddy Bear, early 20th Century. As you can see he has had alot of love. He is disc jointed at the neck, shoulders and hips. His head, limbs and torso are straw stuffed. His ears are missing, you can see and feel the straw inside his head. He has some loose skin behind his neck maybe from where his hump once was?  He has glass eyes and a loosely black stitched nose and mouth. He has his original red, neck ribbon, it has some fraying. Not sure if he had three or four stitched claws as some are missing. His paws have a knitted patch to keep the straw inside, his foot pads are worn. He has quite a bit of mohair loss as you can see. It is unusual that he is a green color. He has some mend repairs and a 1\" tear on his back left shoulder area.

He has a charming old face and just wants to be loved again. I thought he might be an early Steiff but don\'t know for sure. I hope you will recognize who he is. He is clean smelling & would be a lovely addition to your collection!
