Rare Ingraham \"Treasure Island\" Pirate Banjo Clock w/Label ~ Runs Perfectly
Price: US $370.10

Rare Ingraham \"Treasure Island\" Pirate Banjo Clock

Up for sale is perhaps the rarest of all banjo clocks and is certainly the most desirable. This is the Ingraham \"Treasure\" banjo clock which was produced in 1934 as a commemorative to MGM production of \"Treasure Island\", also released in 1934. In 1950, Edward Ingraham presented Walt Disney a \"Treasure\" clock in 1950 to commemorate Disney\'s production of \"Treasure Island\". The correct name of the clock however, is \"Treasure\", according to Tran Duy Ly\'s Ingraham book.

The clock is quite large measuring 37-1/2\" long, 10-1/2\" wide and 4\" deep. The case is mahogany and features a pair of reverse painted glass panes. The first pane is in the \"throat\" of the banjo clock and depicts a colorful map to \"Treasure Island\". The second, larger pane is at the bottom of the clock. This pane is decorated with a scene from Robert Louis Stevenson\'s \"Treasure Island\" of pirates burying their treasure chests. This particular pane is inside a hinged frame that opens with a push button to permit access to the pendulum. The dial is etched brass and silver plated. It is signed in two places, just below the 12 is the name \"INGRAHAM\" and at the base of the dial it is signed \"The E. Ingraham Company, Bristol, Conn., USA\". At the top of the clock is a large brass eagle finial. The sides of the clock are decorated with solid brass side rails. At the bottom of the clock, below the bottom pane, are eight small brass balls. The clock has an eight day movement with a duplex two-rod strike. The original Ingraham label is still attached to the back of the clock. This label provides instructions for adjusting and operation of the clock. Included with the clock is what I believe to be the original pendulum and a modern key. The clock is all original~

The CONDITION of this rare banjo clock is EXCELLENT. First and upmost, it runs perfectly and chimes as it should. I have had this clock running for over 2 weeks with no problems. Cosmetically, the mahogany case is simply beautiful! The clock has obviously been well taken care of. In the process of taking photographs, the eagle finial came off. It appears that it was held in place with four tiny nails that come up through the top of the clock. I would imagine that it could be easily glued back on but I did not attempt to re-attach the finial and will leave this up to the new owner. As you can see in my photos, the dial does show some scratching where the winding posts are. There are a few places on the dial where the silver plate has come off. The back of the clock is in remarkable shape with no issues.

If you collect clocks, especially banjo clocks, this is the most desired and one of the rarest to find especially in this condition!I am pleased to be offering this with and a ridiculously low starting price.
