Description: Original 1872 cast iron firecracker gun made by the J & E Stevens Company. They were a toy company of Cromwell, Connecticut, specializing in the manufacture of cast iron toys, especially mechanical iron banks and cap pistols. It measures 4 3/4\" long wit 1/2\" outside diameter barrel and inside of barrel is .32 inches and is in outstanding all original condition with heavy cold paint like enameling in glossy black with red insert. This is a fixed trigger and hammer cap style gun meaning no moving parts as all cast in as one. Hammer cannot move and trigger cannot move and can never be made to move. Has rope like design on back of handle or grip. At least 85% of original paint present. One would place an early style firecracker in barrel end, light fuse and the small explosion would supposedly propel the cracker forward. No breaks, cracks or repairs. Just a beauty and a rareity that would present well in a firecracker collection as well as cap guns and toy bank collections. Affixed with blaze orange plug per policy and cannot be shipped outside USA. Cannot be modified to shoot projectiles.
