Up for offer is this rare early stoppered AMMONIUM SULPHOCYANIDE Chemist, Pharmacy, Apothecary, Lab bottle. This rare type stopper fits over the lip of the bottle and seals the ground lip inside. The bottle without the stopper is 4 1/2 inches tall, with the stopper is 5 5/8 inches tall and the bottle is 2 inches in diameter..Also it is embossed matching the bottle with its chemical and scientific name. This bottle is embossed on the bottom with NEW YORK PHILA PAT MAR 1879 and W. T. & CO. I have an amber version of this type of stopper and it is embossed with PAT MAY 1, 1883 on the rim and I believe this clear stopper is dated around the same time period. The stopper is in near mint condition with only a few tiny flakes on the bottom edge.
The bottle is in excellent condition with only a small flake off the top of the lip and it has some inside stain from the element it contained. I mention and show everything for accuracy. I’ve had a lot of these early acid etched chemist bottles but none with this type of early stopper. This original apothecary, pharmacy, chemical, lab bottle with rare early stopper displays well, is in excellent condition and would make an excellent addition to anyone’s national Pharmacy, Chemical, Apothecary, Lab bottle collection.
