Rary Georgia Southern Folk pottery 1 gallon whiskey shoulder jug with brown glaze, a spot of dark drip on the side and a couple of globs/splashes of glaze on the other. We got this at an Estate sale, but the exact age is not known.JH Rary was potting at the Howell\'s Mill area of Atlanta near West Paces Ferry Road along with the Browns, Cofields, Charlie Kline, John Daniel, William Hamilton Boggs, Julis L. Boggs, Walter Smith and Lee English.
Please excuse any glares, white spots, and shadows. The jug is in very good pre-owned original condition with a very few small shallow glaze chips on the shoulder, a very few teeny ones on the body, and a couple on the handle and one on the edge of the mouth, but there are No ugly chips, cracks, repairs or hairlines. The jugmeasures approx. 11 1/2\" tall by 7\" wide across the base. It is incised signed on the top; J.H. RARY. Folks, this is a very good rare old signed JH Rary 1 gallon whisky shoulder jug and it would go wonderful in a southern folk stoneware collection or home.
