Japan.A nice rare Space Scout S-17 tinplate battery operated space ship toy, with blue body and nicely lithographeddetail, clear plastic dome with spaceman inside, firing a raygun, and aerial, made in Japan by the Yanoman (“YM”) company in the 1960’s.Measuring almost 10 inches long, this toy is in goodpart-working condition - when switched on, it moves with abump and go action, while the spaceman inside the plasticdome fires the gun which moves from side to side.There is also a small dome at the front which lightsup showing a chequered pattern of different colours. The toy has been played with, but is in good shape for a vintage toy – there are some marks and spots of surface rust, mainly on the chrome parts. butthey are still in good condition with no damage.The gun does not light, and occasionally the toyruns slowly, so there may be a loose connection.It is missing the rear aerial which should be easy to replace. Rare Space Scout S-17 Battery Operated Space Toy,
Yanoman Co. Japan.
A nice rare Space Scout S-17 tinplate battery operated
space ship toy, with blue body and nicely lithographed
detail, clear plastic dome with spaceman inside, firing
a raygun, and aerial, made in Japan by the
Yanoman (“YM”) company in the 1960’s.
Measuring almost 10 inches long, this toy is in good
part-working condition - when switched on, it moves with a
bump and go action, while the spaceman inside the plastic
dome fires the gun which moves from side to side.
There is also a small dome at the front which lights
up showing a chequered pattern of different colours.
The toy has been played with, but is in good shape
for a vintage toy – there are some marks and spots
of surface rust, mainly on the chrome parts. but
