EXiBA rare vintage battery operated tinplate Space Capsule,toy, known as the NASA Mercury Space Capsule, withblue, black and silver body, orange plastic front section, red rear rockets, 2 spring antenna and spaceman driver in green uniform at the controls, made in Japan by theHorikowa (S.H.) Company, in the 1950’s.This toy has a nice clear window viewing paneldisplaying the spaceman and controls.When switched on the Space Capsule moves around witha mystery action, spinning signal light in the orange plasticnosecone, 2 blinking lights inside the cockpit (in front of the spaceman), a beep-beep space noise and smoke coming out of the rear rockets (with switch down). This vintage toy is 10.75 inches long by 5.5 wide (including antenna) and 5.5 inches tall and is all tinplate except for the plastic window, orange plastic nosecone and red rockets at the rear. The tinplate is in excellent condition with minor playwear and the batteryoperations work well except for the smoke functionwhich needs attention for it to work. The battery box has a small area of minor surface rust to the lid, but the inside is clean and rust free. Comes with an original box with great graphics on all sides, especially the space scene on the lidMarked on the side of the toy and on the box lid with the Trade Mark Horikowa “S.R.” diamond symbol and “Made in Japan”A classic battery operated Japanese space toy that is hard to findand a great addition to a space toy collection. A rare vintage battery operated tinplate Space Capsule,
toy, known as the NASA Mercury Space Capsule, with
blue, black and silver body, orange plastic front section,
red rear rockets, 2 spring antenna and spaceman driver in
green uniform at the controls, made in Japan by the
Horikowa (S.H.) Company, in the 1950’s.
This toy has a nice clear window viewing panel
