Hello - ok so it\'s not famous collection- it\'s mine and it\'s way too big.
Some of these fine masks have got to go. Here I offer a rare yupik Inuit mask. I don\'t know how old it is, I\'ve had it about 20 years or so. I bought it from a fine art dealer in Los Angeles back in the day. It is built in the traditional way, sewn together with leather strips and wooded dowels. The colors are subtle-the paint is dry just the way I like it. This mask is 23\" tall to the top of it\'s top hoop.
This piece was tough to get a good photo of. It has three closed hoops and two bent halos around the carved face. See photos and check out the feathers and the \'hang downs\' One hang down has become detached from the neck hoop. I will include it of course.I hate to give it up - I hope it goes to a good home. This piece is wired and ready to hang.I\'ll start the offerding low and hope for the best - good luck.
