ROCKET MAN in SPACE ARMOR ALPS ROSKO Vintage 1960\'s ROBOT TOY Used like MOON EXP
Price: US $703.00

The 1963 Rocket Man in Space Armor Vintage Toy from Alps and Rosko, made in Japan. This is a used toy that was in the attic for many years; it was certainly played with. IS CURRENTLY NON-FUNCTIONING. Toy would have been purchased in the New York state area, circa early 60\'s and has remained in the family home attic since the late 60\'s. It is missing the rocket launcher and rockets and one of the missile stabilizers; also missing the top radar dish antennae. The remote control is still attached to the toy but does not work when I tested with new batteries. Remote control has a hole in the back from battery acid leakage.

As mentioned in the \"Condition/Description\", the toy is in poor-fair cosmetic condition but anyone with the time and who\'s willing to use some elbow grease, can cetainly get it looking a bit nicer. I would imagine that someone with basic electronics knowledge could get the remote control working and the toypossibly moving again.

Shipping will be via USPS in a well packaged box.

I found a description of the toy online which refers to a complete and functioning toy (again, this toy for sale is not functioning):

ROCKET MAN IN SPACE ARMOR - ALPS - JAPAN Tin and plastic battery op remote control robot astronaut. The robot advances with walking motion, moving arms and lighted head as his color wheels spin and pistons move in his chest. Press the second remote button and he individually fires his rockets. Flip up his helmet to see the tin astronaut head. Made by Alps for distribution by Rosko. It is the first of a group of Alps robots based on the same molds: Rocket Man (1963) Moon Explorer (1966) and Missile Robot (?). It bears a strong resemblance to the Alps TV Spaceman but the scale of the components is appreciably larger. The Rocket Man is currently dated to 1963 when it appears in a number of catalogs, including Aldens Christmas Catalog where it is described as a Mars Explorer. (Rocket Man\'s head is attached to the body by a hinge which fits into slots molded into the head pressing. These holes can be seen on the later Moon Explorer where they have no function.)

Thanks for looking and merry Christmas.
