Co. Chicopee, MA\" and etched accordingly to the ricasso of the blade as well as struck in fine font to the back of the scabbard\'s brass throat mount. Wearing a lightly curved large fullered blade in amazing condition for it\'s age, retaining fine quality etched panels in near crisp state of preservation with slightly more wear to the lower blade area, the rest in original mirrored finish with lovely light patina and scattered small stains towards the tip, a superb workmanship and super nice original condition on the blade. Brass mounts retaining traces of original gold finish with nice open work to the guard featuring lovely oak branch with acorns and USN ribbon, pair of dolphins to the guard\'s ends and a lovely gray shark skin grip with original brass wire, showing just minimal wear and topped with an oval pommel adorned with American eagle and stars. Solid and completely intact overall, with it\'s original leather over wood scabbard having once gilded brass mounts, drag replaced and comes loose. Rare example as Ames Co. did not make many of these, unlike most other models of Civil War and earlier weapons.
