Price: US $164.50
Here is a rather scarce example of an American military sword. This is a model of 1840 Sword for Non Commissioned Officers. The type sal widespread use in the American Civil War however this one post dates the war and does no bear any government inspector marks. Made by Horstmann and Sons of Philadelphia and so marked. Original Brass mounted leather scabbard that is very good to fine condition. Brass handle as well as steel blade also in very good to fine condition. Sword probably dates around 1880. Measures 38 1/4 inches over all in the scabbard the sword by itself measures 37 1/2 inches. Shows typical age and use but not abuse. Top throat missing the pin that retains it so it is a bit looks. Overall a very nice sword. Handle is tight to blade, no movement. Original. Would ork well with an Indian War, Spanish American foot NCO\'s display. Thanks for looking!
