Written by Charles G. MacArthur, self-published, printed by the Pioneer Publishing Company, Oak Park, Illinois, 1919. Cataloged by Dornbusch #1196, Controvich #2152.
A scarce history of the 149th Field Artillery\'s service in Europe with the A.E.F., having seen heavy combat at St. Mihiel and Argonne, containing a detailed narrative of the unit\'s experiences during the war, illustrated. The 149th was part of the famous 42nd \"Rainbow\" Division. Book has some good photos including one with some soldiers and the regimental dog mascot \"Max,\" a pitbull wearing a coat and aboard the USS Leviathan on the trip back from France.The 149th Field Artillery was formed from the old National Guard 1st Illinois Field Artillery.Condition EX with wear and bumps to corners of green cloth cover, inside with only very slight age toning to edges, otherwise XF with tight binding.
