Click to View Image AlbumEstate sale find. 9" tall Mechanical See Thru Gear Robot by TOMY Japan which was produced as ("A CHILD GUIDANCE TOY" embossed on the back of his head). Web search has informed me that this toy was promoted as a toy Robot that can be taken apart and put back together again. Large key on his back turns the windup mechanism which works and the on/off switch lever looks to be missing some kind of red knob on its end….switch lever works fine. Transparent body allows you to see his moving gears. Appeared in a 1969 SEARS Christmas Catalog. No cracks or chips in the plastic. Is dusty & needs a cleaning as has been a shelf sitter for some time. Wind him up (the key removes and has some rust spots) and he walks forward and both arms swing opposite of each other.
