Superb quality Large Meiji Japanese Satsuma figural scene plate.

Brand/Provenance: Satsuma, Japan.

Age: Meiji Period (1868 - 1912).

Size: The piece measures 24.5cm in diameter X 3.5cm in height.

Artist/signature: The plate is signed \"Dai Nihon, ***zan sei\" (Great Japan, ***zan made) to the base. We are unsure of the artist. The characters written are very complex and have confused a number of experts I\'ve asked, as to who the artist is. The detail is remarkable, so certainly a master.

Condition: The plate is in good condition with NO chips. A small section of the outer rim has been re-glued from two pieces. NO other issues.

Comments: An superb quality Meiji Japanese Satsuma plate. The piece is exquisitelydecoratedwith a large traditional Japanese scene, depicting villagers outside thefront of a large temple. They all standbeneathanexquisite Cherry Blossom tree, a clear highlight of the piece. The village is set next to the famous Lake Biwa, in front of MtFujiyama, a scene more commonly sighted on wares produced by the Yabu Meizan studio. Please look at the photos closely to truly appreciate the astounding attention to details in this piece.
