But wait a sec . . . Wormser? What kind of a name is that? Nope, this ain\'t no fishin\' hat. If the name makes you think of night crawlers, you\'re barking up the wrong kettle of fish. The fact is, Worms (pronounced Vorms) is a venerable German cathedral city, picturesquely located on the Rhine River. A person from Worms is called a Wormser, just as a person from Hamburg is called a Hamburger, a person from Frankfurt is called a Frankfurter, and a person from Berlin is called a jelly donut. So when one Wormser moved to New York and started making hats in 1894, he memorialized his luxurious, finely crafted sombreros with the name of his hometown.
The interior of the hat is lined in shimmering white satin, with the Wormser imprint in gold on the center panel under a layer of clear plastic; the Wormser name (\"Hatters to Men\") appears on the gold-embossed dark brown leatherette sweatband, across from the words ROYAL LUXURY.
Size: The tag (tucked under the sweatband) is marked size 7 1/4, but the inside circumference of 22 7/8\" means you might even try it if you wear a size 7 3/8. Run a fabric tape measure around the old bean and compare the result.
