Southern Folk Art Pottery Face Jug by Georgia Potter Marie Rogers - Santa Face.
Signed: Marie Rogers on bottom. Boldly incised on the back on right side: M. Rogers.
It measures approximately 8 inches tall and 3 1/4 across the base. White beard like Santa.
Condition: Very Good. Limited signs of wear, very slight shelf wear on bottom - no chips or cracks. No issues. No box or paper work. Some of my pictures show reflections from over head lighting.
Marie Rogers (1922-2010) from Meansville, GA. Marie was not only one of the few women folk potters is Georgia’s history; she was the last practitioner of the older Jugtown (middle Georgia) tradition.
