Description:This sale is for a set of miniature medals, mounted with ribbons. There are 10 medals on the ribbon, plus an extra included in the case. The medals are (from left to right) Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael & St. George, CBE, DSO, The Queen\'s Sudan Medal, The British War Medal, The Allied Victory Medal (with a device/branch on the ribbon), The Order of the Nile, The Order of the Medjidie, The Order of Osmanieh, and the Khedives Sudan Medal. There is an extra Order of the Medjidie not mounted on the ribbon. The medals are in their original case, marked By Appointment, Spink & Son 17 & 18 Piccadilly W. These medals were all awarded to one Officer, Lt. Colonel G.C.M. Hall. Also included with the medals is Lt. Colonel Hall\'s Sterling Silver cigarette case with gilt washed interior. It is engraved with his signature \"G. Clifford M. Hall\" and has an Islamic inscription to the back. The cigarettecase was made by Sampson Mordan & Co., London and carries their maker\'s mark, S.M. & Co. London with the date mark for 1899. The case weighs 113.4 grams. These medals were purchased from a New Jersey estate. We are not experts in medals so we have supplied detailed photographs. All the medals being sold in the four lots beingoffered on this weekwere awarded toand owned byLt. Col. George Clifford Miller Hall of the Royal Engineers. We have included his VC and DSObiography below. Size: The case measures 13.2 cm. (5 3/16\") long x 8 cm. (3 1/8\") wide.

Age:1897 - 1920

Condition: The push button on the medals case is absent and the case has light wear commensurate with age. All medals have oxidation and light wear. Additionally please note - 2) CBE- some losses to the enameling. 3) DSO - light scratches and wear to the enameling 7) Order of the Nile - Hairline on the enameling in lower point (possibly in-the-making). The Sterling silver cigarette case has dings/dents to the corners and light surface wear/scratching commensurate with age. Please see all photos as they are an integral part of the description.

\"HALL, George Clifford Miller ,

Lieut., was born 26 Jan. 1872,

son of the late Capt. W. H. Hall, RN. He entered the Royal Engineers 12 Feb. 1892; became Lieutenant 12 Feb. 1895; Major 19 Dec. 1902, and Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel. He served with the Nile Expedition, 1897 (Egyptian Medal with clasp; 4th Class Medjidie); again with the Nile Expedition, 1898 (Despatches [London Gazette, 9 Dec. 1898]; Medal).

He was created a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order [London Gazette, 16 Dec. 1898]: \"George Clifford Miller Hall, Lieut., Royal Engineers. In recognition of services during the recent operations in the Sudan.\" He has the Order of the Nile, 2nd Class, and the ~rd Class Osmanieh. He was formerly Traffic Manager, Egyptian State Railways.

He married (1st), in 1901, Genevieve (who died in 1902), daughter of J. B. Stickney, of St. Augustine, Florida, and in 1906 he married (2ndly) Annie E. M., daughter of the late Fitzroy Kelly, M.A., of Lincoln\'s Inn, and they
