4 1/2\" high ~ 6 1/2\" from spout to handle

A Prattware pearlware glaze six sided jug made for the American market in Staffordshire, Leeds or Sunderland about 1830. One side has a raised molded eagle with spread wings and a large wreath in its beak, the other side has a large rose. Both sides are painted with yellow, green and brown enamels.

The sides and rim are molded with stiff acanthus leaf ribbing and the neck is molded with a vine of large flowers and leaves, all painted with red, green, yellow and brown enamels. Even the handle is decorated with brown enamel flower devise and under the spout is a painted brown flower spray.

In lovely display condition with very clean pottery and vivid coloring but wear to high points of yellow on the eagle and large flowers, also wear to the brown enamel piping. There are two shallow chips under the spout and one in the footrim that are clean and not so noticeable. The base also has a fine firing line and there is a 1/2\" hairline above it; despite these small age flaws, this looks lovely on display!
