This is for a beautiful and very rare sterling silver and guilloche enamel compact made to commemorate Queen Elizabeth\'s coronation in 1953.The lid has a white guilloche enamel background with the Crown in the centre above the royal cypher. Inside there is a mirror under the lid and the originalpowder puff and sifter. It is clearly hallmarked to Birmingham 1952/53 with the Queens Coronation mark and makers initials HCD for Henry Clifford Davis. The silver is also clearly marked by the retailer\'Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Coy at their prestigiousRegent Street London address and also \'Made in England\'. I can find no other example of this compact anywhere, others were made both for the accession and the coronation....but nothing like this.The compactis in absolute perfect condition with no chips or cracks to the glassy smooth enamel, no dents to the silver and no damage to the mirror. The lid opens and closes perfectly just as it should and sits flush to the base. It measures 75mm (3\") in diameter.
