This design first appeared on the 14-title label (as this one) which dates from 1880, making this one of the earliest possible examples.
The visible picture measures 15cm (approx 5 and 15/16 inches) by 5.2cm (2 and 1/16 inches).
The card mount surround measures 20.6cm (approx 8 and 2/16 inches) by 13.6cm (approx 5 and 6/16 inches).
The picture is accorded Godden number 21 (by Geoffrey Godden in his work \'Stevengraphs and other Victorian silk pictures\'Barrie & Jackson 1971). Godden points out that the design not popular and was only produced for a few months which explains its rarity.
The picture is in excellent condition. Clean with very little of the fading usually found.
The card mount surround has a well repaired crack to both the left and right-hand edges and a few small marks.
The backing label is in very good condition.
A rare silk with very little of the usual fading.
