For sale is this stunning antique Meiji Japanese bronze letter opener, the handle depicting many different frogs or toads all overlapping, the blade engraved with pine boughs and a heron. The handle is fabulous, the toads or frogs are so realistically depicted, they look like they could just hop off the handle! This piece is quite heavy in the hand, weighing 115 grams, most of the weight is in the blade which has two pierced areas which form part of the decoration. The letter opener measures 29cm long by 3.5cm wide. The handle section measures 10cm long by 3.5cm wide. Condition is good with some marks to the blade section but no damage to the wonderful handle.
