DUNTON & SON No.160 \"ANGLERS\' CHOICE\" FEATHERWEIGHT 6 FT., 2/2 SPLIT BAMBOO FLY ROD WITH THE ORIGINAL BAG & ALUMINUM TUBE. Easily, the nicest exampleI\'ve seen of this scarce and very desirable lightweight configuration. Sewell Dunton would purchase the old Montague Rod & Reel Co. in 1955, including the machinery, stocks of cane and all hardware, creating Sewell N. Dunton & Son, Inc. They would build quality rods for almost 20 years, finally selling in 1974 to the two men who would become Thomas & Thomas Rod Co. This example was likely built sometime in the 1960\'s. The model \"160\" is handwritten on the rod shaft just above the hook keeper. The rod shaft carries the oval logo decal which reads \"ANGLERS\' CHOICE - SEWELL N. DUNTON & SON, INC. - GREENFIELD, MASS.\", as well as \"GENUINE TONKIN\". Built in extra light action and weighing in at 3.3 oz. I\'m guessing a 4 wt., but really have no reference to be sure. Built with nicely flamed Tonkin cane and comes equipped with extra tip section, stainless or chromed guides & tip tops, nickel silver welted ferrules, hook keeper, delicate solid cork grip, aluminum screw-locking reel seat and nicely wound in what looks like darkmaroon silk tipped in white. Rod is in Very Fine, lightly used condition. Bamboo is perfect, with no splits, cracks or delamination whatsoever. All three sections are the correct equal length and are reasonably straight. original varnish remains nice. Rod shaft markings and decals are pristine. All wraps are solid and complete. All guides, tip tops, ferrules and hook keeper remain in great shape. Solid cork grip is superb. Reel seat works perfectly, showing only light wear. Rod is ready to enhance one\'s collection or be put back to work. Put up in the original bag, which is also Very Fine, with no holes or tears. The aluminum tube shows just normal surface wear, with no dings or dents. The cap screws on tightly and securely.
