Description Asuperb large earlyEnglishantique18th Century George IIsolid sterling silverpeppercaster by the silversmith Samuel Wood (1737-1754), in lovely condition and dating from around 1740-1750.Excellent quality genuine 260+ year oldsterling silver example,all original and matching,great size and complete withits tight-fitting pierced and prick-work decorated pull-off silver lid which is also marked with the same makers initials. Decorated with attractive embossed and engraved flowers and scrolls and made from a good thick gauge of silver and weighs a heavy approx. 87 grams.No added personal engraved inscriptions.

MeasurementsMeasures approx.4.7 inches (117mm) inheight,and is1.95 inches (48mm) in diameter.

Date English antique18th Century George IIsolid sterling silver, stamped with an early lion passant/gardantsterling silver mark and is also double struck with the silversmiths initials \"S.W\" for the London Maker Samuel Wood - 1737-1754. There is a further lion passant silver stamp on the pierced lid and importantly also has the same silversmith initials, so 100% guaranteed all original.Dates from around 1740-1750.

ConditionLovely condition,and ready to be used. Nosplits or cracks, nosolderrepairs, definitely no wear holesand no nasty knocks or dents, a few very minor little surface bruises, really nothing and abeautiful clean example.The pierced silver pull-off lid has no damage to the pierced work and is definitely the original and isa perfect tight fit.Superbgenuine early mid 18th century example with no added personal engraved inscriptions.
