This is a rare early set of hammer beaten solid silver salts by prestigious Edinburgh silversmiths Hamilton & Inches. Made in 1920 and hallmarked as such with also Edinburgh castle mark and the Scottish thistle to denote Sterling Silver. The salts arecreated in the trademark Arts & Crafts design of tripod cups with organic cures and handbeaten finish. One salt has a washed gilt interior, the other has a matt silver finished interior. Hamilton & Inches still produce contemporary silver products in this style but this is the antique, original version. Each salt has a crisp set of hallmarks and both matching solid silver salt spoons also have the marks to match. All sit beautifully in the original red leather bound box with navy velvet interior. The cream satin which lines the lid has an inscription \'by appointment. Hamilton & Inches, 88 Princes Street, Edinburgh\' and the Royal Crest. A superb set for collectors of Arts & Crafts silver, Scottish silver or quality silver sets. One ofmy favourite things from my silver collection.
