Description

In the next two weeks, we are selling a collection of jukeboxes from a local collector who has decided to downsize. These are all nice machines that have been gone through mechanically and cleaned years ago. As you can see, the pride of ownership shows and these are nice midwestern jukeboxes that have been well cared for. This is just in time for the 2017 Chicagoland Jukebox Show in St. Charles, IL and delivery to the show is available. We also ship worldwide.

This sale is for a survivor quality 1939 Wurlitzer 500 Jukebox. This is a nice machine that has been in a family setting since the early 1970s.

We have had a large number of other Wurlitzers over the years, but few 500s for some reason. This one is one of the nicer originals we have seen. The nickel plating is good aside from the grill and the mechanism, amp and other mechanicals are original. It retains the original locks and keys, original uncracked plastics and more. It is on 78s and has the lighter Jacobs arm to cut down on the wear of your 78 records. Bearclaws can be purchased on but we like the conversion with the pre-amp as shown. This was done years ago.

This model was produced in 1939 and is one of the first produced by Paul Fuller. These are one of the most beautiful jukeboxes lit due to the multiple colors. Below is a video of the machine in action:

Condition Report

The cabinet is beautiful but is not mint. The cabinet has been refinished and does have some patching as shown. There is also some veneer lifting on the sides.

The plastics do have some marks but are nice. The dome looks outstanding, as does the inside foil, mech board. as well as the back. The original cabinet locks and key are present, as are the record trays.

Mechanically, it plays well. We played 5-10 records without incident but may need to be lubed and adjusted due to age and storage. The color cylinders turn, it has coin gear and it sounds great.

The patina is superb! The photos do a great job documenting the condition. This example would make a great addition to anyone’s rec room, bar room, collection, media room, or arcade. Best of all, there is . We will let the market determine the value on this RARE piece. Best of luck in the sale.

Additional sale Details

Because of it’s age and the above, it is sold strictly as-is-as shown. That being said, please see my response and offer with confidence. If you have not owned a jukebox before, these are not CD players, and being 50 years old can be temperamental and are not meant for continuous use all day long. These are meant for occasional use and not for continuous or bar usage.

In addition, there are scrapes and scuffs on the box as you can see in the photos. The good news is that they reproduce most of the jukebox in the event of a problem, and there are many people that repair them. The most likely time of trouble is when they are moved.
