These Indus Valley vessels have a strikingaesthetic, all with wonderful vibrant painted decoration of geometric patterns, dating to around 2600 - 2000 BC.

The Indus Valley Culture flourished throughout large areas of modern India and Pakistan during the 3rd millennium BC, along theflood plains of the Indus, a riverflowing from its headwaters inthe Himalayan mountains. Along with Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia it was one of three early civilizations of the Old World, and of the three the most widespread. The roots of our own urban civilization lie in the remarkable developments that took place during this period. Although remote in time and place, this urban revolution, first represented by the formation of cities in areas such as the Indus Valley, must be looked upon as one of humanity\'s defining moments.
