DESCRIPTION: This hat is being re-listed due to a non-paying buyer. Please SERIOUS buyers only
Body: This wonderful old hat is old stock and still has its original thick paper price tag affixed. Because it was not stored properly, the horsehair on the outer brim suffered damage and there are a few tiny pulls on the crown; however, it is very strong and is still quite lovely. The crown portion is made up of 6 wedges of what I believe to be an onyx black acetate fabric. The wedges are stitched together forming a tall skull cap which is fully lined with black silk. A thick millinery wire covered in silk binding is stitched around the base edge of the crown. The brim is offset with the sides being wider than the front and the back almost non-existent. It is comprised of a few layers of horse hair (crinoline) which are held together with velvet bands. There are 3 of these bands. The outer edge has a single layer of horsehair as opposed to the multiple layers on the rest of the brim. The crown and brim joint are covered by the crown band and lining. Crown height: Approximately 5 inches at highest point
Crown band: A 1 3.8\" wide black silk velvet ribbon is hand stitched around the base of the crown ending on the right where another strip of velvet ribbon is stitched over it and the adornments are affixed
Brim width: Approximately 4 7/8\" on the sides, 4\" at the front and 1/8\" at the back
Adornments: One 3/4\" wide round silver circle pin with 10 glass rhinestones and a c clasp is pinned on the right at the base of an onyx black fan made from 1 3/4\" wide silk velvet ribbon
Millinery wired: Yes, one
Size: 22 1/4\" (56.51500cm)
Labels: A Davidson Brothers Company $4.85 thick paper price tag is stapled to the lining (see picture 9)
Stamped: None
Lined: Yes, a two part black silk lining
Condition: Very Good. There is wear (breakage) to the horsehair crinoline on the outer brim as you can see in the pictures. There are a few snags on the crown. This hat has some wear and soiling commensurate to its age and usage
