CIRCA: 1960\'s and Current
My apology for those that were inconvenienced when prematurely ended my listing. Their reason, \"BrandMisuse\" whatever that means. I have sold a half dozen or more of these without issue.
One of the very best, truly organic and natural sounding, step up transformers, from the Golden Age of Audio, for low output moving coil cartridges such as the Denon DL-103, Ortofon SPU\'s, Koetsu, Benz, Shure, or virtually any low output moving coil cartridge. The RCA MI-12399 transformers were used in recording studios in the 1950\'s and 1960\'s and Artist such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, The Righteous Brothers, Buddy Guy, The Everly Brothers, and many more, all at one time recorded though mixers that utilized the RCA transformer. One of the LP\'s used to audition the SUT\'s that the SUTMAN builds for me is \"The Night Fly\" by Donald Fagen. The cover of the LP shows Fagen in front of an RCA 44BX microphone, one of the famous RCA microphones used with these type transformers for some of theWorld\'sbest recorded music of the 50\'s and 60\'s.
This SUT provides gorgeous, warm, supple sound yet having punchy bass, crisp highs without the roll off or shrill sound that the more modern SUT\'s produce, and vocals that are as organic and natural as you could hope for. The RCA built SUT is exceptionally well rounded throughout the entire frequency band, being very quiet and having a dark background that makes vocals and instruments stand out. It is exceptional when listening to Jazz, Classical, Rock or Instrumentals. I have a friendship and collaboration with the SUTMAN. His build quality is exceptional. He uses Cardasshieldedsilver wire, 6% silver solder, gold plated RCA jacks, military grade binding posts, all constructed with Military grade point to point wiring. Our hand built SUT\'s are enjoyed throughout the World.....Australia, China, Thailand, France, Norway, Italy, Germany, Taiwan, Japan, Canada, the U.S., and many other Countries.
All my SUT\'s are tested using tube audio, Marantz, Fisher, Garrard turntable, and both the Denon DL-103 and Ortofon SPU 85th Anniversary cartridge (as seen in final picture).
If your goal is to achieve that warm organic and natural sound that most Audiophiles desire, a passive Step Up Transformer, like this RCA, is what you are looking for. They have virtually no distortion, compared to phono preamps orphono stages that have many unnecessary parts. I have sold close to a dozen of these RCA SUT\'s, and all of my Customers have been very pleased.
