This sale is for two old hand-made 4/4 violins that are in need of repair. One of these is clearly American made. The second is likely ofAmericanorigin. Neither is in playable condition.
Violin #1. Labeled as "Chas. Newett made for Geo. Newett. 1920 Marshfield, Mass"Comments. The neck is separated on this violin. Extremely nice wood. All parts highly figured. Purfled, 4 corner blocks.fully lined. A handmade instrument.Nice varnish. Missing various small parts (nut, end pin, etc.).Beautiful 1-piece back.Please examine photos closely.

Violin #2. Labeled as J.C. Maldo (handwritten - could be J.C. Waldo or Maldon or Waldon)) 1912. This violin reminds me in somerespects of an earlyScottish violin I once owned.This violin appears (to me) to be American made. However, it is not marked assuch. The neck on this violinis also separated. Note the unusualhand-carved tuning pegs. Not purfled. Two piece back. Four cornerblocks and fully lined. Separations. Repair to top(base-side f-hole). No other parts missing. Please examine photos closely.
