Here is a beautiful tongue in wreath US military belt buckle from the 1850s or early 1860s. Sand cast solid brass construction. This buckle comes out of my collection, which I have had for some time and am selling on this month. Width: 3-1/8" (78mm), Height: 2" (50mm). A few numbers are stamped on the brass, including a "3" and a "1" to belt loops and what appears to be "22" stamped inside of the wreath. Some of the bright gilt finish remains on the face of the buckle. Excellent condition, no breaks, dents or dings.
