Very Good condition and guaranteed original US Model1887 Hospital Corps knife. This is a very rare piece, with only 1,056 produced.11-3/4” blade has original bright finish with some minor age spots. Edge isclean and has not been sharpened. The “U.S. HOSPITAL CORPS” etched marking is strongand complete. Remaining metal finish is nice original nickel plated brass.Maple wood grip has original finish and a good tight fit, no damage. Handlenumbered 55.
Fitted in correct original leatherscabbard that has brass throat fitting and belt hook. Leather is soft andsupple with some normal wear, stitching and rivets are nice and tight numbered 26. Leather has an old scrape on front. Leather is softly marked on the back “ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL” with inspector initials. Thescabbard is also marked “R.I.A.” on the belthook.
