A very fine stunning rare form early masterpiece of Northern Californian basketry originating from either the Maidu Indian tribes and dating from the very early 1900\'s. This fine hand woven basket is very finely woven from split sedge root and split winter red bud to produce the stunning intricate designs that surround the periphery . The design features three sets of red arrow designs. Perfect balance between positive and negative elements resulting in a true masterpiece. The basket makers skill is clearly evident in the perfect form, fineness of the weave and pattern balance . The basket measures 9 1/2\"in max . Diameter and stands 3\" tall and is in good condition with no splits damages or repairsnoted with an occasional top rim stitch missing as expected with great age and use. This is an excellent stunning finely woven masterpiece that has acquired that nice patina that only comes with great age. Thisstunningcomplexmuseum quality basket displays very well and will make a fine addition to anyone\'s collection.
