At sale is a Canon 7sZ (also known as 7s II) rangefinder camera with a f/1.4 Canon lens made by Canon Camera Co. of Japan between 1967 and 1968. Only about 4000 were produced. This was the last of the Canon 7 line of rangefinder cameras and probably the most advanced screw-mount rangefinder camera ever made. The easiest way to tell the 7sZ from its predecessor, the 7sz, is the (1) the rangefinder adjustment port just above the n on the camera\'s top, and (2) the larger rewind knob. There were also other improvement that are less visible. This camera was sold at the same time as Canon\'s earliest reflex cameras. It uses standard 35mm film, in standard cassettes, to produce 24X36mm negatives. The camera accepts interchangeable lenses using the Leica M39 screw mount. As such, there is a large number of lenses available, made by many manufacturers, that can be used with this camera. The shutter, with speeds T, B, 1 - 1000, works well at all speeds and the speeds sound about right to the ear. The stainless steel shutter curtains are in great shape with no holes or wrinkles. The shutter speed dial moves smoothly and easily. This camera has a combination viewfinder and rangefinder that is clean and clear with no fungus, haze or dust. The rangefinder has a bright focusing spot and it is well aligned. The viewfinder has bright-line frame lines for 35, 50, 85, 100, and 135mm frame lines that can be dialed in with a control on the camera\'s top. Also, the frame lines are identified in the viewfinder, which is nice. The lens that comes with this camera is the fast, coated 50mm f/1.4 Canon lens that is clean and clear with no scratches, fungus, or haze. These lenses are highly rated for sharpness, contrast and color rendition. The aperture control ring works smoothly and easily with distinct click stops at the marked apertures. The 8 diaphragm blades are free of oil, grease and rust. The focus control ring moves smoothly and easily and the infinity lock works well. The lens will come with genuine Canon, 48mm, screw-in UV filter and Canon front lens cap. The camera has a built-in CdS light meter that has a switchable high or low range. The light meter has not been tested by a technician but it appears to be working well and responds quickly to changes in light. The camera and lens are in mint- cosmetic condition with only the most minor signs of use. This camera presents almost like new. There is no brassing on any painted parts of the camera body. All camera and lens functions work well. The camera will come with the original Canon leather case that is in nice shape. This camera is fully usable and would be a very reliable. Also, due to its superb condition, it would also be a great prize for a collector. This is one of the holy grail cameras.
