This is a substantial and very elegant ANTIQUE GEORGIAN solid sterling silver LARGE toast rack forSIX slices of toast that was made in London, England in 1828 by the illustrious Georgian silversmith, Jonathan Hayne at his Red Lion Street workshops in Clerkenwell. It is in a stunning and unusual design and it measures 6 5/8\" long by 4\" wide by 6\" high including the handle. It is very substantial - it weighs273.6 grams -virtually 9troy oz.

It is in very good condition with just the usual light surface scratching, NO dents, NO dings and only a little distortion - SUPERB - but it does need a better clean than I have had time to give it. It is hallmarked JH, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark),lion passant, n, George IV duty markshowing that it was hallmarked in London in 1828. I have shown the hallmark so that you can make up your own mind.
