DISCLAIMER: Please read the description carefully, and study the photos closely because they are both important parts of my description. Thanks. Mojo

OVERVIEW: I couldn\'t find much about Rutan ukes other than they are rare, highly regarded, are very Martin-like in construction, they were made In Kansas City, Missourii, and the builder was named John Rutan who was put out of business when his workshop burned down.

AGE: The best I can tell this instrument is from the 1920s or 1930s.

MEASUREMENTS: This one has a scale length of 13-5/8\", a lower bout width of 6.25\", a nut width of 1-3/8\", and an overall length of 21\".

WOODS: The entire uke is made of mahogany with the top wood being very nice.

THE BAD STUFF: There is a 2.5\" crack on the back plus there are 2-3 other 2\" or so hairlines also on the back, the nut (probably was ebony) is missing, the ebony saddle is broken off with half still stuck in the bridge, a back brace is cracked (as seen in the photos) plus one other back brace is partially unglued, there is some finish worn off the fingerboard. Also, there is overall wear, tear, scratches, dinks, doinks, and dirt.

THE GOOD STUFF: The neck-to-body joint is very solid, the binding is solid and has a nice amber color (not white like in the photos), the top is very flat, the bridge is still glued solidly to the top, and the neck is very straight.

THE CASE: The case is a nothing special green wool bag which is not in great shape.

HOW THE SHIPPING COST IS DETERMINED:
When creating an sale listing, provides a “template” that deals strictly with the shipping cost. The seller (me) simply enters the package dimensions, weight, and carrier into the template, and then the Shipping Calculator automatically figures out how much the shipping cost will be for the buyer (you) depending on your zip code. Every potential buyer will see a different shipping cost depending on how close or how far they are located from Massachusetts. Because this shipping amount is automatically generated, I have absolutely no control over what cost is shown to you. In fact, I don\'t even know what the cost is that you are seeing. I NEVER make a profit on shipping, and only charge the ACTUAL COST to the buyer. I will even send you a shipping refund if the “actual” shipping turns out to be less than what you were charged.
