Vintage 1950 Era Rita Life Size Walking Doll by Paris Doll Co New York City with the Original Box. She measures nearly 30" tall. She has some age wear - her arms need new strings, her plaid dress has suffered some worn areas near the shoulders, one of her glass eyes just needs to be adjusted. Paris Doll Corporation 1940s-1956Not much is known about the Paris Doll Corporation accept they produced composition and hard plastic dolls from the 1940s to 1956 and had an office at 203 East 18th Street, New York, NY USA. In 1957 the Horsman Doll company purchased the Paris Doll Corp. and renamed it the Horsman Couturier Division for one year, after that it simply became Horsman Dolls, Horsman also acquired the young talented fashion designer Irene Szor. The Paris Doll Company ad for the Rita doll states: Rita's a must - See her during Toy Fair at the Hotel McAlpin Rooms 1046-48, doll is unmarked. Hard plastic head with glued on saran wig, hard plastic jointed body, sleep eyes, real upper eyelashes, painted lower lashes, open mouth with teeth.Came in a black or white doll. May have been dressed in several different outfits one of which was a Majorette, as well as shown in the ad wearing a cotton plaid dress with white sheer pinafore trimmed with red satin ribbon, white socks and mary jane shoes. 1951 Paris Rita doll, 24 or 28" tall, all hard plastic, saran wig in pigtails of strawberry blonde, blonde or brunette (other wig styles were also available), sleep eyes, open mouth with teeth, doll shown has replaced hair ribbons, socks and shoes, the dress and pinafore match the above shown doll ad and are all original. Doll is unmarked. 1952 Paris Rita Walker Black doll, 24 or 28" all hard plastic, toddler body, saran wig, walks, sits, and stands with no mechanism, must be similar to the larger size doll, doll is unmarked. Came in both a white or black doll.
