Here is a beautiful vintage Olds Super tenor trombone. It has the bronze bell with nickel silver tone ring and nickel silver slide with the fluted inner slide tubes. The engraving on the tone ring reads: Super Olds, made by, F.E. Olds & Son, Los Angeles, California U.S.A. The bell has a 7 1/2\" flare and the slide is dual bore. The serial number 46527 would date this one to about 1951.This horn has been relacquered at some point but it was done well and all the details and engraving are still nice and sharp and the metal has not been thinned out. It does have some small dings and nicks on the bell flare and stem and some slight signs of dent repair on the stem. The tuning slide bow is a little lumpy from previous dent repairs and it could be touched up better. There are some small nicks on the neckpipe.The slide works well and falls easily by its own weight when held at a very shallow angle. The plating is good on the stockings with a little wear just at the very end. There is a ding where the edge of the bell hit the slide tube. It\'s been worked on but shows evidence on the outer tube. It\'s still there on the inner tube, probably because of the fluting it would be difficult to repair. It doesn\'t affect the action though. There are a couple of other nicks on the inner tube and a small ding in one stocking.

It has the original barrel shaped case that\'s in pretty good condition. It doesn\'t have a mouthpiece with it.This horn plays very easily with a nice big warm resonant sound!
