Vintage 1954 Ideal Toys 'Robert The Robot' original and best looking 1st version of this toy, the only version to come with clear parts and a red chest storage compartment with 3 tools, but only the original screwdriver and hammer remain here. This toy has a fully functioning crank operated voice box. Robert says, "I am Robert Robot, mechanical man… guide me and steer me wherever you can.” Robert also requires one 'D' cell battery to operate his internal light (not included), which is accessed by removing his head. The toy also comes with the original hand-held controller for powering and steering the toy, although in order to restore the steering to working order I had to disassemble the controller and make repairs. I then repainted it red. Reproductions of Robert are available and common, but nothing compares to the looks of this 1st version with its original box! Shipping is $15.00 by USPS economy shipping.
