DESCRIPTION: This is an old doll called Giggles. She was made by and is marked Ideal, and dated 1967 on the box. When you move her arms, she makes a giggling noise, and her eyes move around. She comes with her original box with insert and instructions. There is an original Montgomery Ward stock number sticker on the bottom end of the box lid.
MATERIALS: Both soft and hard vinyl plastic
DIMENSIONS: Measures about 17-½ inches tall.
CONDITION: GIGGLES has NEVER BEEN REMOVED FROM HER ORIGINAL BOX! She is still fastened to the box insert, and has the plastic bag over her head and plastic band around her hair. SHE WORKS - You move her arms in and out as if clapping, and she makes a giggling noise and her eyes move. The giggling sound comes from a screened area in her tummy. There is a factory mold indentation in this area. It is not damaged, just evidently got indented before the molded plastic could become hardened. This doll came from the original purchaser who was a doll collector, and just stored her away all these years. Unfortunately, the storage caused a few problems for the outer box: the lid has sunken on the front from other dolls being stacked on top, also causing split edges and corners which have long ago been taped. There is other corner and edge wear, paper tears, and darkening with age, etc. The insert has a bend-out informational heart sign that has torn loose at the top (it has been recently taped together at the top in the back). The box bottom has also darkened with age and has some creases, and has tape residue across the bottom. The pictures should tell the story. It smells slightly musty from being stored in a damp basement.
This is an interesting old doll with great eyes and neat giggle feature . She will be a nice addition to your collection.
FYI: Our pictures are taken under bright incandescent camera lighting or using a flash that sometimes fades out the colors or makes them appear brighter. This also helps to show all distinguishing features and possible flaws on the item. Most of our antiques and collectibles have much darker, deeper, richer colors than appear in some of our photos, especially reds that tend to turn orange in appearance. Most of the items are photographed on a solid black or bright white background. If you have a question about the color of this item, please feel free to ask questions, because from my monitor to your monitor, the colors may appear different. So, you might think you are offerding on a rare color, when it might be a common color.
If you win more than one item, I will combine the items for shipment and charge shipping according to weight.
