Vintage 1973 Schilke B6L Silver Trumpet with Original Case
Price: US $1825.00
This classic Schilke B6L silver trumpet with original case has been stored away for many years, and is looking for someone to blow life back into it! The horn is in excellent condition, with only two tiny dings that I could find. They're so small, it took me a few tries to even be able to photograph them! The local music store went over it a few months ago and said it's ready to play. The valves and slides are free but the slides will probably need greased again for peak performance. It does not have the original mouthpiece, but I'm including a new Blessing 7C mouthpiece so you can start playing as soon as the trumpet arrives. It has Schilke Chicago U.S.A. stamped on it near the serial number, which is 5898. According to various web sites, the serial number indicates that the trumpet was made in 1973. Even though this horn is 43 years old, the silver finish is in fantastic condition. I used a polishing cloth to remove fingerprints and oils, but I'll leave a more thorough polishing to someone who knows how to do it.
The original case is in very good condition with some light wear. It has the original Schilke metal tags on the inside and outside, and the latches and hinges work well. If anything, the case mainly just needs a good cleaning by someone who knows how to make it shine.
All in all, a beautiful vintage instrument, great for a collector or a player! Good luck offerding!

*** Update ***
Someone pointed out that the third valve stop screw is missing on this trumpet. Not being a horn player myself, I had no idea that there was supposed to be a screw there, but they are correct. I apologize to anyone who has offer without this knowledge and understand if you want to cancel your offer. However, this is a common item that is easily replaced; they're available on for as little as $7.49, so hopefully that won't be enough to discourage you from considering this beautiful instrument.
Also, I found out that you can contact Schilke directly to find out information on their instruments, so I called them. They informed me that the trumpet was indeed manufactured in 1973, and that the "B6" part of the model number signifies that it has a medium bore and a medium large copper bell. The "L" part of the model number indicates that it has a tuning bell, aka a tunable bell, meaning that the bell can actually be swapped out for a different one to get a different tone/sound.
I also spoke with an acquaintance who is a trumpet player, and he told me that the Schilke B6L is primarily known as the principle model used by jazz-rock fusion player Bill Chase. He said it's a great horn to play if you want to stand out from the crowd!
