Here is a vintage 40's MARX Ride-On Fire Engine, in original red and yellow, untouched colors. It is in used condition overall, which is what is neat about displaying it. The bell is on and rings when moved (the ringer is still there). The steering wheel turns the front wheels, but the steering wheel is a little bent from being pressed down on or sat on over the years. The siren crank turns, but I believe there was a mechanism inside a small box that allowed the siren to work when turned - this box/mechanism is missing. I am not positive, but from the paint around the crank area, it is easy to assume that is what was there. The cranks wood handle is still there. The siren still has the internal blades - so, assuming you could find a mechanism, maybe it could be made to work again...The litho prints on both sides look good. One of the rear fender "wings" is missing. See pics - this is shown.Apparently there were two ladders, one on each side hung along the fire engine bed where the seat is located. These are not present. I have taken pics at various angles to show the patina and wear (scrapes, scratches, etc.). It is not perfect, but it is a decent example of a child's toy from the '40's. The wheels all turn fine - they wobble a little. There is a little surface rust on the silver grill and center of hood decoration - the bell is fine. I have not cleaned it up at all. Since I am not a vintage toy expert, I know no more of the original operation other than what I have described, touched, or assumed. Please see the last pic, as it shows all the boxes of upcoming toys yet to be saleed. None of those items are included in this sale.
