Up for offer is a 1949 John Deere MT row crop tractor, serial number 12405. This beast was owned by my late father but has not run in about 5 years. He said it was running and all steering, hydraulics, and transmission were working fine while he had it. He said it was not charging the battery. Also one of the front tires would not hold air. Due to health, he was not able to make the repairs.

This is an original 6 volt system. It appears to be in good mechanical and physical condition for its age. It has been stored indoors since my father purchased it in June of 1988. The fuel does not smell like it has gone bad, but it would probably be wise to empty the tank and fill with fresh. The 6 volt battery is dead and needs to be replaced. He believed that the charging problem could be fixed by cleaning the carbon accumulation, from the brushes, from between the commutator contacts. It has no apparent radiator leaks or major oil leaks. The tractor also comes with a small box of misc parts, a new front tire and inner tube, The JD operators manual, I&T shop service manual, a large JD service manual, and a JD Dealers service manual.
This is a great tractor to run as is or an excellent start for full on restoration.It would make a great addition to your collection or a great tractor to start one.I know very little about these old tractors so the best I can do is pass along what my father told me and as many pictures as I could post.
