This was a gift from a friend when I expressed interest in learning to play the instrument. After discovering I have no talent and this gorgeous piece has just sat and collected dust next to my office desk. As beautiful as it is I think it would be better off with someone who plays it.

This is smaller than a ‘concert’ ukulele. With 19 metal frets.

It needs to be restrung/tuned. I was told the guy who strung it for me did so improperly (honestly I’m not sure). This is a very unique piece and I found a similar piece on Amazon without the stamping/engraving. I stole their description of the company:

The Cumbus is a relatively young instrument. It was developed in Istanbul in the early 1900's. The inventor, Zeynel became known as Zeynel Aofferin Bey. The famous Ataturk Mustafa Kemal, Turkey's first president, dubbed it Cumbus, pronounced joom-bush. Cumbus is Turkish for revelry, just the mood this instrument inspires.
