If you are looking at this saddle you probably already know that in the right hands it can be turned into a gold mine. You probably also know more about it than I do. What I will give you is a rather brief description. If there are still unanswered questions please by all means let me know. I will do my very best to answer them!
First off this saddle has been sitting untouched for many many years. It is dirty and dusty but there is no mold and the leather is still pliable.I recently acquired it from a local estate sale. You will see that there is still a grease pencil lot number on the seat. Because of its rarity and previous experience* with a vintage and highly sought after saddle I have not touched it other than wiping a small area off on the back of the seat to reveal more clearly the maker mark.
*(Previous experience: I sold a vintage Heiser last year. I cleaned it up and oiled the crap out of it. Turns out they used a different type of oil back in the day and I was asked not to do anything more to it by not one, but two buyers. Apparently cleaning it the way I did could have caused more harm than good...lesson learned. If I come across vintage saddles I now will leave them in as found condition and leave the cleaning/restoration to someone who works with vintage leather!)
As you can see its mostly there and in a state of dismantle. The pile of leather pieces you see contain all the original pieces parts with the exception of the sheepskin lining and the leathers (backside of fenders) which were replaced at some point in time probably when my mother was a young woman. The old-timer style leathers across the front of the fenders look original. (All the pieces all have the same edge tooling, the same patina, and are in the same workable condition so I will assume they are all original to the saddle.)The largest of these pieces parts is of course the main attraction...the saddle tree with the seat, fork cover, and rigging. It is a high back (very clearly seen). It has a 13.5\" loop seat and is still feels solid and looks good. The only area where I can see the rawhide is starting to separate from the tree is right under the openings for the loop seat. Other than that it looks good. The tree has a 6\" gullet and most likely QH bars. The bar length is approx. 21\" and can be seen in one of the 11 uploaded photos. (Please click on the photo to make it much larger. Then you can scroll through and see the details a bit better). The rigging is center fire, the horn is metal, and the maker mark appears clearly on the back of the seat.
As far as the rest of the parts....the fenders and skirts are actually in pretty decent shape. The tooling is nice and clear, and the rounded and edged bent wood stirrups, although in need of a restoration, look original as well. I imagine a person with some experience in restoration could turn this saddle into a show piece.OK...that\'sit,that\'severything I know about this saddle! If you have questions please ask prior to offerding. This saddle is being listed for sale in as is condition and as a re-builder, display, parts, or as a pattern. It is not in ride-able condition, but what do you expect from a saddle build well over 100 years ago! You will get all the saddle parts shown delivered to you in a box in the same condition as seen. I will not soap it, I will not oil it. It is sold in shown (photographed) condition.
Now for the standard spiel....
I have included photos of the entire saddle...all the way around. You will also see measurements of the gullet, as well as the seat.

I hope I have answered any questions you might have. If I have failed to list something that you would like to know, please feel free to email me.

Shipping price is for lower 48 states and always INCLUDES REPLACEMENT INSURANCE! I have had things lost in the mail...so I will always make sure you are covered in case anything happens (Cont. U.S.). I reserve the right to choose shipping between the 3 major carriers. I generally choose based on speed of delivery based on your location from mine. If you are able to pick the saddle up in person you are more than welcome to, and you will not have to pay for shipping (obviously).

I will ship elsewhere, but please email me with your shipping zip/postal code so I can get you a quote before you offer. If you are from outside of the Cont. U.S. you need to understand that you –the buyer- are responsible for any import duties or fees associated with importing goods from another country. If you do not understand or accept that then please purchase goods from within your country to avoid those fees.

PLEASE NOTE

I describe absolutely everything I find, and I list honestly.

If there is an issue I do not try and cover it up, I make note of it.

If it is hard to see, I will photograph it and add text to the photo with arrows pointing out any issues.

I pride myself as being an honest and forthcoming person, and hope you, as a buyer, are as well. Respect…that’s all it boils down to. I respect you, so please extend that courtesy to me. I do not try to hide anything, nor do I falsify my listings in anyway. It does no one any good…ever! We are both here to do the same thing…to buy and sell…we are not here to get scammed, lied to, or ripped off! If you have questions please ask them prior to offerding-not after you have won.

If you even have an issue –please- let me know within 24 hours of receiving your item andpriorto doing anything else. I will do what I can to rectify it.

I have recently had an issue with two different types of ‘ers’ so I am hoping that by putting this here you might read it and understand that it’s no fun to do business with...

1) Someone who has no intention of following through with their offer…

2) Those that will lie about things to get their way…

3) And…kids using your computer without your consent. A simple password will stop them from buying things without you knowing about it!

If you are one of those above people please think about how you would feel if someone did it to you. It costs time and money, not to mention frustration when dealing with people who have nothing better to do than ruin things for others. This is not a game. Please don’t treat it that way.

Let’s treat one another as friends and neighbors, because when it comes down to it, we are. I am honest with you, so please extend that courtesy to me. I will ship your item the next business day after receiving payment (which is due within 48 hours), I will provide you with tracking information, andI will deal with any issues you may have. All I ask is that you treat me with the same degree of respect that I give you.

Thank you.
