This fabulous "Dingley" made for "Foster Bros. of Ashbourne" reel is in as found condition and has not been restored or repaired by us.
The reel measures 3 inches across and has " D 4" stamped inside the reel. The back plate is impressed with "Foster Bros., Ashbourne". The reel still revolves well with a good smooth action and a fixed check mechanism. There are no splits or cracks to the spool or cage reel, however, there is a small patch of corosion to the front of the spool. There is no play when the spool is rocked.The reel retains some of its\' original finish and has the usual scratches and wear marks that you would expect from a well used item of this age. The ebonised handle and smooth brass foot are well attached and sturdy, the brass foot is stamped with "4" and again, has some of its\' original finish.

This is a fine example of a "Dingley" reel and is so evocative of times and anglers past.
