Vintage Hardy\'s Alnwick Fly Fishing Reel - 2 3/4\", personalized engraving
Price: US $179.00
This beautiful reel is 2 3/4\" in diameter and weighs 5.68 oz. It is personalized and engraved: \"James H. McConnell Jersey City, NJ\". It reads \"To dismount turn screw\" on the other side. It has a fair amount of scratching and wear from use, but still looks very nice. It has a smooth yellow (agate?) reel turn, and a red agate ring/eye. It comes with plenty of line (orange cream colored). It comes with a very nice brown suede leather pouch, lined with fur (fur lining has blackened some from years of storage). The reel inside the pouch will be well-protected during shipping.

**Update** I\'ve re-measured since learning more about this reel. I didn\'t realize it was this valuable initially. The side with the personalized engraving measures 2 3/4\" on the outside rim. The inside rim of that side is about 2 13/16\". However, on the other side of the reel, where \"to dismount turn screw\" is engraved, the reel measures 2 7/8\" in diameter. Therefore, I think I should reclassify it as a 2 7/8\" reel.

Update on the width of the drum. It\'s 3/4\" between the inside rims, and 1 1/8\" overall.

Update: I\'m going to end this sale. I\'ve already notified the high buyer, but wanted to give others a chance to see this message. It was suggested that I show the inside of the reel. When I did, I discovered that the screw holding the spool together is broken. The broken-off part of the screw was missing, so it was removed at some point by whomever broke it in the past (probably my father). I\'m sending it off to have it repaired by a very trustworthy expert reel repairman, who should be able to make a new screw and see if there is any damage done to the threads. When I have the reel back, I will re-list it. I imagine it will be within the next month. Please keep an eye out for it. I\'m very sorry about the inconvenience caused to anyone.
