So we have five sets of Toshikane plaques, in very good vintage condition, dating from about mid century, circa 1950 to 1965. This sale is for 3 pairs of non-pierced earrings, 1 pair of cufflinks and 1 pair of \"earrings\" that have no posts / screwbacks. All 5 sets have been signed with the Toshikane trademark and can be seen in the photos but a glance will tell you these captivating flowers are classic Toshikane porcelain made in Arita, Japan. Potters discovered the first kaolin porcelain clays in Arita in the 1600\'s and have making their world famous Aritawares ever since. In the 1930\'s, potter\'s saw an opportunity in makingbuttons and silver mounted jewelry. Fabulous flowers, birds and images of Japan were molded into the white porcelain and then had painted in brilliant enamels.
There are two pair of fans measuring 35mm across. One pair is decorated with maple leaves highlighted in red and gold, the other with striking gold Japanese phoenixes. Note that the phoenix pieces were made with screwback earring parts which have been removed...they are ready for your creative touch!There are two pair of \"button\" earrings measuring 25mm across. One pair, clip ons, depict Mt. Fuji and a beautiful red pagoda, the other pair, screwbacks, feature a striking black bamboo on a snowy white background.Finally, there is a knock out pair of cufflinks.
